Malachite is the oxidized ore of copper sulphide, actually its a copper carbonate hydroxide. Results from reaction of copper sulphide with carbon dioxide and groundwater, so is generally observed at surface or subsurface. Deeper down is the primary copper sulphide in the host rock, the form in which copper is always mostly present at depth in copper deposits. So it would be most unusual to see near surface malachite without there being some copper sulphide at depth somewhere. The big Question is where and we need more drill holes to get a better fix on this by locating the feeder channels that bring up the copper sulphide solution from depth. The hematite presence is interesting as IOGC systems tend to have a copper sulphide - hematite relationship . Reading the announcement its clear the company was quite surprised by lack of visible sulphide given the hematite presence. Might possibly be some trace levels of copper sulphide that will be detected upon assaying. If so, then guess it could mean we are still quite some distance from the main body of mineralization ( if it exists in abundance).
