Renegade Chairman, Mr Robert Kirtlan said the gravity anomaly core directly overlapped the core of the magnetic anomaly, strengthening the exploration model ahead of drilling. “This is the last piece of the technical work. The 100m x 100m gravity survey strengthens our comparisons of Mongoose Deeps to Ernest Henry and has provided additional target zones for exploration,” Mr Kirtlan said. “Given the exploration model and after extensive consideration and consultation, Renegade has chosen to target the magnetic anomaly proximal to or marginal to the gravity anomaly." Renegade Exploration are reporting the results of a ground-based gravity survey, details of the survey are: Line spacing: 100m Sample spacing: 100m Survey instrument: Scintrex CG5 Gravity Meter GPS instrument: Trimble R8/3 GNSS system Gravity data: terrain corrected and reduced to complete bouguer gravity using standard densities of 2.2, 2.4, 2.67t/m3.
Reference: RNX, 21st May ASX announcement, The Mongoose Deeps magnetic anomaly is a highly attractive target which is located beneath the Mongoose copper deposit. The anomaly is interpreted as being a magnetite rich breccia pipe which is similar in size, shape, and magnitude as the world-class Ernest Henry copper mine. The inferred pipe is not exposed at surface, it is a blind target. What is seen at surface are copper mines, deposits, and occurrences which are hosted in highly fractured, faulted, and brecciated dolerites.

An AusIMM, April 1998 technical paper titled "Evaluation of the Ernest Henry Cu-Au Deposit Mineral Resources by R A Crookes and A J Ryan, stated, "The deposit (Ernst Henry) was discovered in 1991 as a result of a well-executed exploration strategy, which culminated in the drilling of a coincident magnetic and ground EM anomaly. The first drill hole intersected 7.1 m at 4.95 per cent Cu and 0.8 g/t Au from 97.35 m in the supergene zone and 114.2 m at 1.75 per cent Cu and 0.9 g/t Au from 120.5 m in the primary zone".

    Ernst Henry Geology:
Two breccia lenses dipping south-east, separated by a sub-economic zone.Extends 250m along strike, 300m thick, and over 1km down dip.Two main mineralisation styles:Supergene (oxidized/weathered): dominates near surface, contains chalcocite, bornite, native copper.Primary (unweathered): deeper, dominated by magnetite, chalcopyrite, pyrite.Gold is associated with chalcopyrite in primary ore, but can be separate in supergene ore.

    Ernest Henry Resources:
Estimated Measured and Indicated Identified Mineral Resource (July 1997): 166 million tonnes at 1.1% copper and 0.54 g/t gold.
Includes Proven and Probable Ore Reserve of 127 million tonnes at 1.1% copper and 0.55 g/t gold, supporting a 15-year mine life.

In further readings, I have noted Magnetics provided the initial clues about potential copper resources at Ernest Henry, while Transient Electromagnetic (TEM) further refined the drilling target zone.

Let's see what the Mongoose Deeps Magnetics and Gravity anomaly alignment finds.
