The Zapato prospect has a crest at approximately 2,000 metres with nearly 1,000 metres of vertical relief, in other words a big mother. A gravity and magnetic study over the Zapato prospect was done by Cuba’s specialist/expert technical laboratory, CEINPET. The study showed a strong gravity and magnetic alignment over the prospect. This result is supportive of Melbana’s assessment of the prospectivity of Zapato as a large carbonate duplex structure. Potential to contain Varadero style oil accumulation. Its along strike from the nearby Motembo discovery which produced alight oil (50 – 64.5° API), could Zapato be the oil Kitchen for the light oil of Motembo, if so this going to be a massive find. .
