Think with the number of ambulance chaser law firms out there they need to cover themselves anyway they can so every report is "Independent" now. Kind of started about 10-15 years ago where directors of failed companies were all getting sued left right and centre for loses by shareholders for incorrect information. Nobody wanted to take responsibility for their own investing actions even if they are really just gambling in risky stock.
