Could also be locking in drill contractors. Either pay them now to sit around and be ready to go, or tell them to maybe come back in a week or two by which stage they might get a contract somewhere else. Then who knows how long until you can get another drill company in?
So that leaves us with two options;
Either they are drilling now - Great
or, they are on standby to start any day now - Great
What difference does a few days make in a multi year long project?
