Read up on the auction phase, It's something like the higher you bid, the closer you are to the head of the queue when the opening price is determined. How is the opening price determined? I took this from google but you can read in detail:
'an algorithm is used to determine the volume on the buy side versus the volume on the sell side, as well as the prices at which they have been placed. This algorithm results in an official 'auction' price, which is the price at which the stock opens'
