Bout2000 years ago it was called parable, today its better known as an analogy.

Theco-op decided the best way to make some money was to put a farmer in charge oftheir land. More land to work, more money to be made right? Farmer seems to have a good track record and promises a good return for contributing members. But time goes by and the contributors notice that the Farmer and the elected body don’t seem to be contributing any of their own money. Strangely enough the farm produces enough to keep them living comfortably, but not enough to return anything to the contributing members. The original idea sounded great in principle, but it honestly only works when everyone works honestly.

Membersgot a little antsy, looking over the fence and asking, ‘why is there noactivity’? The barn door was closed while the pigs snuffled at the trough, for a long time….. Then the barn door creaked open and a pig or two staggered out with full bellies swinging. In the meantime, some members were so annoyed that they showed their Fangs, picketed the front gate and shouted their grievances to anyone wandering by. Other members disgustedly abandoned any hope and joined other communes. Who could blame them? So the Farmer and his mates were told that mutton, veggies and fuel for the farm jalopy would be given to someone else unless the harvest improved. Patience was definitely wearing thin, on the farm….

2020is usually mentioned in connection with vision. Lets hope that next year the reason for our decision to invest becomes clearer.
