When they say formation pressure of 10,000 psi that is absolute pressure. It's not pressure above hydrostatic. So you would need 10,000 psi to kill the well which is 15.9 ppg as jimmydubs said.
The risk is if they lose the mud column, then the pressure on the BOPs will be almost 10,000 psi because a gas column has a much lower density than a mud column. That's why the BOPs need to be rated to what the maximum reservoir pressure is.
