    I think you are referring to a huge coal deposit found under John Heugh. That was nothing but coal, and was sold off by Cottee. It was sold when coal prices were falling and this was in a difficult location in Central Australia, IIRC, and the sale price was pretty low. Given the coal prices, the depth and the difficult location selling it was probably the best move.
