'Here's some cheatsheets on petrophysical responses. In the recent NR then talk about separation in resistivity readings from shallow to deep. This is usually an indicator that the formation has hydrocarbons in it. The shallow sensor is detecting the drilling fluid, which is conductive as its water, salt, other stuff. The deeper sensor detects resistive fluids, like hydrocarbons. So seeing the separation means there's hydrocarbons in the formation. Whether its gas, oil, or something else is yet to be determined. As @ranger mentioned, the interval they found potential hydrocarbons in could derisk source rock presence and effectivness, along with migration, reservoir, and seal. Basically it derisks the petroleum system and play.'
Dan is an Exploration & Production Geologist who was the previous Principal Exploration Geologist at Equinor. He once worked under Stuart. Deeply value what he has to say
