They may have only gone down to 2500 .
They then cased and suspended waiting for the proper rig to drill deeper through the high temp and pressure pay formations.
The new rig will drill to 4000 so it wont take too long. But this section will be the earliest indication.

But its progressive ticks and crosses.

First they need to get gas flowing
If it flows they want it to be reasonably high pressure
They also need the gas to be the right type of gas without being full of nasties

The above they should know within 60 days with indications before this.

Then they need it to flow over time without significant declines in flow - this takes months even 90 day flows are still a bit premature to go putting the house on it.
