Yeah the Long Term hold thesis I have is that Droneshield is building out engineering talent that will enable us to explore multiple revenue streams in the coming years.
While the focus is currently on defence from malicious drone usage this splits into 2 key revenue streams:
(1) hardware
(2) software
The quality of the software and ability to update it likely underpins the value of the hardware and also protects the longevity of revenue. Good software requires good engineering talent - especially in items that'll be on the warzone as they need to be battle-hardened/always working. Talent in this regard generally congregates into areas i.e. Silicon Valley. Droneshield appears to stand out as a unique engineering career option and growth in this area alongside other companies such as Atlassian helps build the attractiveness of Australia as a place to live and work. Australians who wish to remain in Aussie but still work on really cool/innovative engineering solutions have more options today than just heading to San Fran and working for Google.
However, we are currently primarily (solely?) selling to countries seeking to mitigate the issue of malicious UAVs.
I believe there is foreseeable growth in non-malicious UAV applications. As UAVs become more common place, most likely for deliveries, the need to manage air traffic will increase. The EU recently passed legislation on this matter. This will be a lucrative new market both for drone developers as well as those support functions.
Droneshield will be well placed to provide solutions to this market.
Further (and less concrete) I am hopeful that with the recent surge in AI use-case with Gen AI our talented team will find new opportunities to apply their know-how resulting in diversified revenue streams - even outside Drone solutions. I've no idea what these opportunities could be. What I do know though, is when empowered and enabled, young talent can develop innovative solutions.
