According to the CDC the top 3 leading causes of death annually in the USA (2018 figures) are:
- Heart disease - 655,000;
- Cancer - 599,000; and
- Accidents - 167,000.
As of today the CDC has reported 11,136,253 cases of coronavirus and 246,232 deaths, currently representing a death rate of 2.21%.
The first case of coronavirus in the USA was detected on the 21st January, so in the span of 10 months Covid-19 has become the 3rd leading cause of death in the USA.
If nothing is done and the American people want to keep acting as if nothing is wrong, a significant proportion of the population is likely to be infected resulting in a monumental death toll. If 25% of the population is infected (82,750,000) at the current death rate of 2.21% the death toll would be in excess of 1,700,000.
