Opalines' explanation re mineral liberation is one of the possibilities behind the selection of a leaching process.
It is possible that liberation needs a fine grind which can make flotation difficult. You would still, however, need that same fine grind to liberate the minerals appropriately if you intend to leach if fine grained mineralogy is the case.
There are lots of reasons that would render the flotation process a no-goer for Duncan and therefore send them off searching for another method, which they clearly believe they have.
