One thing that I think is really pertinent to keep in mind today amongst the latest round of aggressive tariffs announced by Trump, is that whatever your feelings on the big orange guy and his unique brand of economic policy, E25 are very well poised to be a poster child for the white house on how his policy is shifting jobs and industry to the US.
Take for example the rhetoric when he specifically announced the steel tariffs for Australia last month: President Donald Trump’s decision not to grant Australia an exemption to tariffs on steel and aluminium exports to the US came after he “considered it and he considered against it”, his press secretary Karoline Leavitt told this masthead.Asked why Trump had decided against the carve-out, she said: “America-first steel. If they want to move their steel manufacturers here, they’re welcome to do so.”
He's specifically presenting a scenario where his policies shift manufacturing of overseas companies into the US. The DOE grant would deliver this outcome and enable the white house to claim E25 as an example where the presidents policies (even though the grant was announced prior, it would be confirmed under his watch) is delivering new manufacturing jobs to a red state.
I can only see this grant being confirmed and if anything E25 being encouraged to put tools in the dirt sooner rather than later to deliver this for Trump.
