Well, Col was right about one thing - RED has been setup for a relatively cheap takeover - this looks like a late stage Roman Empire scenario, where the praetorian guard (new BOD members) hired to protect the company and management, have instead 'assassinated' the emperor (MW) or made him an offer too good to refuse (?) Now we know why MW was recently buying shares (?) - he can now retire, with his golden parachute and lead a much simpler, less stressful life.
It beggars belief that RED issued a bullish new presentation less than a week ago, with many bullish slides including "standout value opportunity: derisked steady-state operations " .... are we to believe that this deal just sprung up over night ??
When did the BOD and MW know and why isn't this being put to a shareholder vote that excludes SLR ??
It should come as no surprise that SLR has followed up their "strategic" 12% shareholding, with another cheeky bid, to find a home for their tired assets.
BUT is this the final Leonora consolidation or is this just a prelude to the final act - after all, SLR did have designs on St.Barbara, and its half cocked spawn, GMD .... getting GMD to make an offer that SLR couldn't refuse, would create the final, definitive Leonora consolidated entity ??
A certain broker that has played a big part in RED's evolution, and which has been a milch cow for them, recently issued a bullish analyst update, with a 42c price target. They now claim to be totally blindsided by SLR move .....
But somebody knew and the relentless surge in the SP for the last 10 days is curious is it not ??
For the time being RED SH's should hold - the deal can be aborted by a better offer for either RED or SLR - why in gods name would SLR expect a bid ?
So, what would it take for GMD to come forward ? SLR feels its got RED by the gonads, and would like a deal, so that it can fade into the background and all its KP's and BOD's get their golden handshake ??
So, SLR is yet another ponzi scheme that, despite being a gold producer since 2007, never has a paid divided nor ever will, but has been great for the staff, the BOD and the WA economy.
