No it isn't. It is just an assumption by a person who knows nothing about concrete.

The tensile strength of a slab increases according to the square of thickness. eg a 10% increase in thickness will increase the tensile strength 21%. So using thicker concrete is usually a much cheaper option for slabs than using more expensive concrete in a thinner slab. That's why roads are usually made with very thick, low strength concrete [Around 30cm for high traffic areas]

The US Federal Highway Administration has consistently argued against using high strength concrete for general road construction because it is uneconomic.

Interesting discussion. Apart from tensile and compressive strength in combination with slab thickness, another factor that should be considered is weight. For our product the reduction in weight achieved by making the casting both thinner and stronger is the primary advantage.
