    Hi rorter,

FYI: PigsMightFly was nice enough to post a link to an important article titled "Carbon Nanotubes – The unfulfilled Promise" (see his post # 47489356 from 21/09/20 at 00:55) that clearly points out that the dispersion 'problem' was not as trivial as he initially thought, and up until Eden came along in 2014/15, the dispersion problem was indeed unable to be solved using basic industrial chemistry.

Here is the excerpt from this article (I believe it was published in late 2015), that refers to the great challenges of dispersing CNT's, which up until Eden came along, was indeed one of the main barriers reasons holding back CNT's from realising their full potential in a huge range of applications:

    Entangled Mess

Carbon nanotubes have a tendency to entangle and aggregate into clumps. This presents a great challenge in dispersing them into a polymer matrix. The way in which the nanotubes are dispersed and aligned in the bulk matrix and the way these nanotubes interact with each other make a huge impact on the final properties. Because of the clumping and entanglement, the properties of the bulk materials and composites fall much short of what is obtained with the individual nanotubes. The difficulty in achieving adequate disentanglement of the carbon nanotubes and their dispersion into the matrix is one of the main impediments in the realisation of the material’s full potential. Researchers have tried various methods to unentangle the clumpy aggregates of nanotubes. These include high-pressure washing, treating with surfactants etc.

Here is the link to this article which was written by Mr. K. Sahasranaman for the Chemical Industry Digest, who I believe are based in Mumbai, India:

Finally, just a word about The Chemical Industry Digest. The Chemical Industry Digest was founded in 1987 and is a technical journal aimed at engineers and decision makers in the chemical industry. In 1989, the Chemical Industry Digest was commissioned by the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research of the Ministry of Science & Technology of the Government of India to publish 4 special issues on Consultancy Engineering.

    Cheers.
