They did love their neighbour... So much so they bought it when the opportunity arose.
If only there was a passage about paying all your debts to protect against evil coveters.
From memory there were a few bits in the book about greed. Perhaps directors holding so many shares was an impediment as it would seem some drastic dilution before the 11th hour could have prevented all this.
