Kicking myself on my entry price today as I could have got the business at 6% cheaper. Also broke my rule of buying my position in parcels. However, happy to buy this business at a multiple of between 7 - 8.
Whilst the earnings look bad period on period, unseasonal earnings in FY22 H1 make it look worse than it is. Inflationary pressures eating into margins should subside now and livestock prices should have bottomed. Not to mention volumes will remain strong with most farms stocked quite well. H2 will be much better.
It's a nice addition to the portfolio in what I deem a period of slow econcomic growth coming up.
In saying that, there is certainly a chance to get it even cheaper over the next month with tax loss selling.
