    Hi my247shop …

I wondered if Horizon might be targeting a vanadium battery installation with its new indigenous land use agreement in the Kimberleys signed last month.
The agreement, which will support the region's transition to a clean energy future, allows Horizon Power access to a four-hectare area of land in Beagle Bay for the development of a future energy system that will deliver increased renewable energy for the community.
The renewable energy development is in its planning stages and is expected to draw on the region's significant solar resource.

But then saw the community up there comprises only of about 400 people [ref].
..Still the VSun/Horizon battery heading for Kununurra is only 220kwh which can deliver up to 78 kW of power.
How many people/homes will this service?
    — It would be useful if AVL was able to state in simple terms how many ‘average’ homes or whatever this long awaited battery is expected to service.

What else would be genuinely useful around here?
The IGO battery is bigger than Horizon’s at 300kwh, but still only enough to power a water pump with a diesel generator as back up

….. So I don’t know how useful any belated installation success there will be as compared to the need out there, these are comparatively tadpole-sized units that VSun’s cutting its’ teeth on (which I guess is why there’s not much price excitement - no matter who supplies the electrolytes).

Still I expect Horizon and AVL will both celebrate in the media when the Kununurra one’s been commissioned.

But to grump a bit, as far as enquiries from mines go, my247 shop .. wasn’t the Nova Nickel mine battery offered as a free trial back in November 2021 ?
They say not to look in the mouths of gift horses, but if I was planning a mine or wanting to upgrade its’ power supply
I’d be asking ‘how long will it take’ ‘ as well as ‘how much will it cost’ before booking Vsun to order my battery and do the installation.

Them’s the breaks here right now I reckon, and the recent news Invinity battery orders have slowed down and that it still needs to do more work on its’ ‘cost competitive’ Mistral * isn’t great either, I don’t think, as far as helping grow confidence in VFBs in the Western world.
(*but only till 2024 year end?).

I really, really hope Graham and co have something up their collective sleeve to make a genuine difference to the price here beyond that EPA approval…
There seems to be opportunities to use VFBs in conjunction with huge lithium battery installations these days and our new scientist Yifeng Li may be working on this along with whatever else
…. And Graham mentioned potential partnerships in the pipeline in August in his Diggers & Dealers presentation.
And news of more good financial support would do it …
Plus there’s the waiting for Godot thing for those hoping vanadium prices will increase.

    Patience eh?
But AVL was no gift horse for me…
I bought into this company because I had confidence in the technology, and the ~$42m backing or whatever from RCF … and then in Graham Arvidson whom I knew to be an acclaimed operator at NWH.
    — I am allowed to look in its’ ‘mouth’

And welcome any corrections or reassurances that anyone with better perspectives than I might like to send my way.

    cheers
