if one is discharging and recharging at the same time then isn’t the net effect that you’re just running from the source and not using the battery? If we assume it’s solar sourced charging then during a sunny day end users are effectively using the solar power rather than the battery. When the sun goes down they are running on the battery alone and are limited by its KWh rating until the next charge. Maybe an evening kettle boil would have been a better analogy than morning as it would be dark.
the battery itself only stores and creates DC. Inverters would be used to generate the AC that is delivered to homes. Much the same as a grid connected home solar (with/without battery).
