Meanwhile, back at the coal face, AXE systematically working to develop a bioelectronic platform for reproducible results. Graphene offers good sensing capability to detect multiple analytes , also enabling the unifying of this data into digitised holistic biological systems (this is the best way I can phrase this for now). The reason being that AXE in a previous announcement stated that this biochip platform would be using machine learning software and exploring the multiplexing capabilities of graphene transistors in this platform. Biological data collection that analyses, co-relates, finds patterns. I recall during the pandemic lockdown programmers were looking at the structure of the virus and learning its pattern using the Python language. Pattern recognition is the reason for digitally recording biological information at this level. With enough data and the right algorithms, it can lead to major breakthroughs in medicine.
It's worth re stating here that gFETs are also well suited to large scale manufacturing with current semiconductor technologies. Scalability is always at the back of mind when designing these systems, no matter how complex. The entire platform, hardware and software, will also be more user friendly to the end user than all this nitty gritty detail in announcements suggests.
Delving back into details....because the biofluids themselves have electric charge, they completely screen out the charge of the biomolecule being measured,,.....the gate potential is not sufficiently affected,..... hence hindering the sensing capabilitiy of the gFET.
AXE has employed one of a few ways to counter this and amplify the detection 'signal' needed.
As we can see, this isn't trivial work by any stretch. It's laborious, design, test, adjust, review, repeat. Working at molecular and nanoscales, working at the pointy end where biology and nano electronics have to meet and information transfer has to happen. At this stage it's only news flow that can keep us informed and confident of steady progress. So far, it's almost textbook work, implementing solutions that are in numerous papers. The science is solid. And it's the weeks and months of working towards goals that will get us there. I'm going to be very patient.
Have a great weekend all. Hopefully a few more announcements on the 12CQ will be here soon and cheer us up.
