Unlike many commodities there is no specific spot market for diamonds, each diamond category is sold as a unique unit likely 30-50 individual lots per sale that can vary in price from a few $/ct to thousands/ct.
Each time you have a sales parcel it will generally have a slightly different make-up to the last time and in higher value parcels that difference may be significant.
The KDC - Tiffany deal took some time to come together and had some significant intricacies to keep the parties happy.
Not disagreeing with your sentiment but it has some complexity to work through, first steps may be an agreement of understanding.
