I think it is because Beaches cash position improved on rising prices,the sell off was in response to the reserves in decline they will need new discoveries very soon.Many more fields are also in decline and there has been little investment during Covid making exploration overshoot on the negative side.
Another point to consider is Buffett who is holding a large cash position recently invested in 5 Japanese companies all who have heavy gas exposure,Lyne Alden has invested in gas infrastructure, pipelines etc anticipating a gas supercycle
