I would place the responsibility pretty squarely on the board too. Without Dr Greene there would be no RWS, no laser tracking, no laser-ablation space-debris management, no adaptive optical communications. Without his vision there would have been no acquisition of EM Solutions.

The key failure was that nobody was prepared to ensure that management had commercial and financial credentials to match Greene's scientific and engineering capabilities. They sourced some pretty high calibre people for the roles, but clearly when those people clashed with BG's vision they were let go, leaving the company without the reality check it clearly needed.
