That's not a bad flow rate at all under the circumstances, but the low rate plus the rather unfortunate rapid drop-off means some sort of tight gas drilling techniques will be needed to get this to flow commercially IMO.

But there is some great news in this announcement - Helium content essentially the same as Magee. Not only is this good for Mt Kitty as it essentially doubles the value of the gas, it shows that this helium charge system appears to be regional in nature, because these wells are so far apart. Which means, in all likelihood, we just discovered an extremely rich and very large helium province.

But it's going to take a lot of money to commercialise it, and Santos are the only ones who can make this work - for those still whinging about 'giving away' 70% of the play.

Also, just WHAT it is with CTP wells and rig incidents while rigging up for wireline logging?! At least STO are operating this one.

Anyway, all in all this is a pretty darn good result IMO - as good as could reasonably be expected.
