imo it is an easy sell as the companies get extra power output for no capital outlay. They just pay for the output at a cost which is less then the extra diesel cost would be to produce it. So they save on capital input and ongoing inputs.
on another tangent
if there was an oil/gas company that could drill a hole for $1m in costs and receive $1m a year in income for 10 years from that hole with no risk of a duster - would the masses be falling over themselves to speculate/invest in it? Probably yes.
That is essentially ERJ's business model.
as to their business execution - yes it sucks. They continue to over promise and under deliver.
