BHP Ravensthorpe Nickel. 15 plus years to get it off the ground. $2.7b capex. Got the engineering wrong and walked away when Nickel fell to $10k ten months after it went into production. DFS said it was profitable at $4.5K per tonne. Sold it to First Quantum Minerals for a song. They worked out the engineering. It is still going and expanding.
