Reality is in all listed markets you have players with different agendas. The roll of borrowing stock to short sell is a practice that goes on. You might not like it but it does. This is compounded by algo / quantitative traders that are all about the direction - up, down they really don't care. It's about selling high and buying low or vice versa. If your all about the short term, then daily fluctuations could be (or not) your friend, if not there are plenty of mature growth companies that you should be looking at.
