The ASX orders are the only ones visible overnight. Numerous trading platforms are added premarket opening and removed at closure which can sometimes be significant volumes for example OTC and ChiX. At open, brokers flush in overnight algorithmic orders, matched institutional block trades, or trigger algorithmic liquidity into the visible book. Which changes things as well It's not so much that the orders weren't placed Or they are being taken away and placed again in the morning But rather they are simply not visible to you overnight
