LIT/ANSTO have been in bed with each other for 5-6 years and nothing has eventuated. Go through the announcements for the past 6 years for SiLeach and LieNa. The guy that invented these processes left the company. Sileach PFS numbers look pretty good, yet nothing happened. Why? LieNa is 5+ years old and they can't even get a pilot plant up and running.
You should really read the patents for LieNa. It might answer the question of WHY ! Have a look at the process. Pressure + temperature + caustic process. Look at the volume of Sodium Hydroxide the process consumes. And then do the numbers on how much waste would be produced.
There is a reason why these things are not being commercialised
