The subject is old school and well established in several markets so this is nothing new. Said it before. What is interesting though is the environmental side of this so-called proprietary processing. Unless there's 100% guarantee that only alkaline batteries are reaching final processing then there remains a risk of harmful nickel and cadmium residues being present in the mix. What about any nickel-plated steel from casings ? OK removed by magnets but still some nickel remains dissolved in the black mass along with micro-plastics. To address this issue you have to follow a leaching process transforming the black mass into liquid, filter then further purify to actually make a safe product. Furthermore zinc and manganese present in black mass are metallic or as hydroxides, dioxides or oxides. There is no uptake for plants in such form rather the "fertilizer" remains soil bound.
