It seems those who know better are thinking differently to the retail day-traders who panicked!
I like this bit that reflects what I had anticipated to be the case, that further analysis of data (good or average results in subgroups) will shine light on how application/technique can be improved:
"The [subgroup] data allows us to more specifically address certain meaningful patient populations and maximize the chance of a benefit for those patient groups. "
