I just posted a similar comment over on an ASB thread... "Austal receives yet more real orders for ships for the USN, while the best the Australian Government can do is give Austal a "Heads of Agreement for Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement". We no longer have a military capable of protecting ourselves, let alone capable of humanitarian disaster relief on our own shores. Marles and Albo are great at making announcements while the reality is they spend less on tangible defence materiel than last year or the years before. No drones, no ships, no anti-drone capability, less armoured personnel carriers than originally tendered, helicopters grounded, just the promise of some subs someday."
