While I agree with all of this, I also wonder why companies bother telling us that they are undergoing a strategic review, full well knowing that they never intend on revealing the strategic review to the market.
Why not just do the strategic review (without announcing to market) and just tell the market what you are actually going to action?
In my simplistic view, if you are going to tell the market you are doing a review, then there should be an obligation to tell us the gist of what the review found.
