I'm not sure there is a difference.

I understand that the 4-1/2" and 5-1/2"casing would run in an 8-1/2" hole.

The larger casing would require a larger hook load on the rig and some other minor alterations, but I don't think there is a major issue on the drilling front after the 9-5/8"casing is run and cemented.

The larger development casing will allow greater volumes for fracking, which is the key reason behind the upsizing.

I know that EEG also plans to use 5-1/2"casing for their development wells.
