This announcement is a clear message to those people who have been talking up a takeover of AKI by EQX that they maybe waiting a hell of a lot longer than they think for EQX to act. In my opinion, EQX have just sent a strong message that they have probably moved on and that whilst taking over AKI makes sense it is not crucial. If someone else takes over AKI then EQX makes some money and all is good.
Those sellers who have been selling EQX and buying AKI and therefore driving down the share price of EQX will now have to rethink their strategy to date.
I think that by stating in the release that they are now the largest landholder in the area says it all.
