Can get knocked around a bit by being part of the GDX too - not a fan of ETFs; can often be the tail that wags the dog as they become the focal point of fund flows. Lots of TAs use the GDX as a proxy for the sector, so if large players want to smash technicals (and sentiment), it's much easier to influence/manipulate one ETF vs 20 odd leading gold producers.
This chart is GDX v EVN v SAR v NCM (YTD). Not hard to pick which stock is not in the ETF.
