I'd say the stock is already going to be closed off by the broker shorts so there isn't actually any physical change of stock except an exchange of cash at that final closing price. The broker may or may not make a profit that's why its so interesting in the past few days that the 19c and 19.5c have had huge volumes churned at these prices which suggests they are protecting their profit or margin at around this price
