It's really not that hard to understand why innovative companies leave Australia. This country is an intellectual backwater that only does well economically because of the vast amount of natural resources that are highly in demand. The cogs keep grinding, but there is absolutely no strategic vision. Any gains achieved from the wealth created by those mining activities are funnelled into the pockets of the powers that be, and they aren't the brightest bunch either. They feed their network, and society does all right, but our whole identity is based on being an isolated, insular bunch of larrikins. Pretty good work if you can get it, but most of the world's people actually have to apply themselves to a serious degree if they ever wish to get anywhere. We are encouraged to be complacent here.
Anyone with any serious aspirations would get out of here as quickly as possible. Tall poppy syndrome is enough to drive you crazy, but the backwards mentality is so culturally embedded that nobody even dares to think above the ceiling they're sitting beneath, and the result is a very generic concoction of fragile, insecure crybabies who are generally more interested in complaining about how the Earth is about to burn to death, and if you tell them it isn't, they get upset, because their identity depends on this notion being true. Such a f-cked up paradigm, isn't it? Quite typical, unfortunately, and people are very cosy sitting in their web of lies. They love to hate anyone successful. In fact, it seems like we now go out of our way to punish and ridicule anyone who dares to succeed or do things differently (cough Novak Djokovic cough).
Look, I get it... People here are very satisfied with themselves. They're doing all right. But... they're morons. And that's why things are the way they currently are. But I really pity those who have built their lives around taking shortcuts. They're about to find out the hard way that this is NOT the way the world works. And that's when people/organisations who provide genuine value will be appreciated as leaders in what they do. The finance hatchet job journalist who makes a "living" off controlling the narrative to control market behaviour? Yeah, he's in trouble. The politician following the script? Him too. The corrupt ones, and anyone else who actually still believes in their spiel, yep... Them too.
This won't be popular, but the truth usually isn't. If you're on this stock's page, however, and I know you probably just want the f-cking stock price to go up, but you'd enjoy the journey if you read a book or two meanwhile. I recommend The Fabric of Reality by David Deutsch and The Road To Reality by Roger Penrose. You can probably find free PDFs on the first page of a google search. That's if you want to be educated. Again, unpopular notion, I know.
