I particularly like the 321gold.com site which I did not know about before.
Just as a short position needs to provide physical Gold, or a match with a long position on settlement, so does a long position needs to find a buyer or a match with a short position on settlement.
In a way short positions are easier to understand, as there are approx 1000 tons of gold mined every year, which must be sold.
So irrespective of what Yellen has to say, on the long side they need to unload tonnage on someone.
Which brings one back to India and it's uptake this year.
Simplistic, I know, yet the long holders would be up all night thinking about it.
The size of these plays as given by contract size, on the 321gold.com site is truly astounding.
I need to think about this a lot more.
As you say,on another angle ,my experience also{1987}, is that gold stocks really dive in any large correction.
