I would have liked this part addressed in terms of the benefits to IG6:

The purification results demonstrate the potential for an optimised and simplified process to be used as an alternative to the traditional industry standard HF method.

They do state:

Purification testwork involved the application of a modified caustic soda roast process at lower temperature than previously applied and with a simplified number of stages.

So lower temperature and less steps involved would presumably make for a cheaper, more efficient process than the standard process, however if this is the case then why aren't all producers using this method?
