This hit reminds me of how a place not far down the road from Hemi was found, LOL

"THE NOR'-WEST GOLD-FIELDS. MALLINA.
THE name of Mallina is associated with the early history of gold-mining in this district,The circumstance which led to the opening up of the field is probably not generally known, and to recount it maybe of interest, as showing how accidentally gold finds are sometimes made. When quite a lad, Mr. Jas. Withnell, who resided with his parents, the pioneer settlers of the district, at Mallina, saw a crow within easy stone-throw, and, boy-like, thought he would shy a missile at it. He picked up a piece of quartz: for the purpose, and twisted it in his hand to get the most convenient hold of it, his fingers caught in something rough and apparently harder than the stone, and on examining it he found the hard substance to be gold. The specimen was brought into Roebourne and caused quite a sensation. Tho locality was prospected, and to-day the result is to be seen in the number of gold lines actively worked. This identical piece of stone is still in the possession of the finder, treasured as a memento of his first experience in gold discovery."
