As for cost of trucking I know several farmers in WA who have this very problem. They get charged the same rate for the empty trucks to turn up at the gate as the return trip fully loaded. This is because the trucking companies could otherwise be using their trucks to carry goods so they charge you as if it's loaded. Empty or full they get charged the same rate.
