Not quite J Dudley. NZ Inland Revenue has a list of Australian companies where the tax paid in Australia is taken into consideration. Other companies do not met their criteria and a NZ tax payer must pay 5% of the increase in value every year of those types of companies. Of course, we are not allowed to claim losses if one of these companies decreases in value.
