Yup, I concur. My interpretation, based on this announcement, is that early adopters are serving as Beta testers, as they're still not confident they've ironed out all the kinks. That doesn't provide me with a lot of confidence, in both the product in general and the company as an investment.
Mr Hackett is now trying to establish an us vs them mentality, by pitting RFX against Tesla. The reality is Tesla is light years ahead, in both product development and brand recognition. If I were looking for an energy storage system, I just couldn't look past Tesla. The PW2 leaps ahead of the Zcell in capacity and price, irrespective of the underlying technology difference.
With Tesla merging with SolarCity, you'll start seeing the announced solar shingles in new homes by mid next year I think, and if you're getting the Tesla shingles, it makes sense to pair them with the PW2.
RFX have also flagged the possibility of another CR in the future. Based on their current strategy, that'll be a matter of when, rather than if. If I were a SH today, I'd be taking action to account for that.
