GOLD FEVER: A 13-ounce nugget was among nearly 150 ounces recovered by prospectors Kym McClaren from the Bullet Hill prospect and other areas near the historic gold mining town of Sandstone in July and August.The prospectors struck a deal in June giving ASX-listed Middle Island Resources the option to buy the 10,000-ounce project at Wirraminna for $300,000.Mr McLaren retained the right to undertake surface gold detecting activities within the top two metres of agreed areas in exchange for 15 per cent of the gross value of any gold recovered.Middle Island took 22.2 ounces of the 148.6 ounces of gold recovered by the prospector.Middle Island, named after the fishing club of which managing director and well-known geologist Rick Yeates is a member, is working to restart the Sandstone processing plant only 1km east of the Wirraminna tenements.The company has estimated it will cost between $5 million and $8 million to restart the mill.
