That article about evergreening was depressing! apparently, in the case of top 10 drugs, instead of receiving their allocated 20 years of competition-free profits, they managed to extend their patent life to 38years!

Then I read that these Big Pharma like to intimidate the generic producers with all sorts of law suits!

My father likes to annoy me by repeatedly telling me that the world operates by practising the Golden Rule: “Them that has the gold get to make the rules!”

The system is what it is…there is nothing little ol’ me can do about it, nor can Race, and for the matter, nor can Amgen…but that doesn’t change the fact, in my head,that the the Big Pharma collective has permitted these cunning “evergreening” manoeuvres, just because they can!

It's a pendulum thing: eventually these powerful entities will so badly abuse their power that corrective forces will step in…it happened in the 1930s (???) with the US government having to bring in anti-trust laws.
