MBE have added some new language to their DCB announcements:
"Following the partnership with dtac, MBE will be live in 10 countries, further de-risking and diversifying its DCB business. "
Attempting to heal the wounds. But really what this shows is that DCB is at an infant stage, right around the world and it'll only take time for other nations regulations and compliance to catch up.
What MBE need to show now is that the Australian arm can still convert a high number of customers, regardless of the two-click signup procedure now. They used to tout that DCB had 6x the conversation rate of credit cards. No doubt this will be removed from future presentations as 6x would be with 1-click authorisation. I expect this to be much lower with 2x. And what this actually tells you is that a lot of people were mistakenly signing up under 1-click. It seems a significant amount in fact, given the massive drop in DCB revenue.
